Somme Bay
The Baie de Somme, listed as a Grand Site de France, has always been a source of inspiration for painters and writers: from Degas to Corot, from Jules Verne to Colette…
Thousands of migrating birds and a colony of seals find refuge there throughout the year. Cliffs, dunes, sandy and pebble beaches or marshes follow one another and make up exceptional landscapes just two hours from Paris.
We are delighted to announce the nomination of Baie de Somme for the Green Destinations Story Awards 2024, which will be held at the ITB in Berlin.
Our commitment in the “Destination Management” category is recognition of the effort made by our Mixed Union towards the preservation of our environment. Accompanied by EURAKOM, a firm specializing in sustainable and regenerative tourism engineering, the Syndicat Mixte Baie de Somme – Grand Littoral Picard highlighted the innovative strategy, developed in 1974 with the creation of the Syndicat Mixte de l’Aménagement de la Côte Picarde ( SMACOPI), aiming to preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Bay of Somme while offering a sustainable and responsible tourist experience. This appointment is the result of hard work and continuous dedication of elected officials and agents of the Syndicat Mixte Baie de Somme – Grand Littoral Picard since its creation. Our joint association has continued to evolve to remain a key player in the preservation and development of the Bay of Somme. It is a source of pride for us to be among the best in this category, highlighting the positive impact of our actions. Discover our nominated story on Green Destinations.
