June 5 2025 to July 5 2026
As part of the United Nations Ocean Week, the Association of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World, organized on June 5, 2024, a waste collection on the beaches, in the organization’s member bays, on the 4 continents, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. This international activity was crowned with success.
With the main gathering theme: “How to reconcile tourist development and preservation of the biodiversity of Ecosystems”, all the populations of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World joined hands for a vast simultaneous cleaning operation, and thus, sent to the world a strong signal of its contribution to saving the Oceans…
When the bays of Japan and South Korea initiated this gesture of global solidarity at sunrise, it was still the evening before in Canada, and the middle of the night in Europe and Africa.
Little by little, the European volunteers, the African volunteers, followed in the footsteps of the volunteers from the Asian Bays, then their colleagues from the American bays joined the movement, a few hours later.
This great simultaneous surge of solidarity, waste collection, in the oceans, on the beaches, in the mangroves, parks, and forests, mobilized more than 3,000 people on the planet, and made it possible to collect and sort, almost 20 tonnes of waste.
A big thank you to the school children, the senior associations, the elected officials, and to all the anonymous volunteers who have mobilized to help give a better future to the Oceans, and to the entire planet earth.
The President of the Association of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World, Mr. Louis Thébault, declared at the end of this historic day, “to be very proud that the populations of the organization he chairs, participate in such large numbers, in the solidarity activities of the United Nations.
